AAFP constituent chapter representatives who attended the Academy's National Conference of Special Constituencies, or NCSC, here on April 23-25 elected colleagues to fill various leadership positions during the meeting.
AAFP Board of Directors new physician member candidate: Chris Lupold, M.D., of Lancaster, Pa. (Note: This candidate is to be approved by the 2009 Congress of Delegates.)
New physician alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates: Russell Kohl, M.D., of Vinita, Okla., and Risheet Patel, M.D., of Fishers, Ind.
Special constituency delegate to the AAFP Congress: Robyn Liu, M.D., of Tribune, Kan. (Note: This candidate was named in a special election held to fill a vacancy in the delegation.)
Special constituency alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress: Tonya Bradley, M.D., of Auburn, Ala.; Robyn Chatman, M.D., of Cincinnati; Tricia Elliott, M.D., of Houston; Suben Naidu, M.D., of Edmond, Okla.; Sarah Nosal, M.D., of New York; and Ravi Shah, M.D., of Chicago. (Note: The special constituency delegates and alternate delegates represent the following constituency groups: women physicians; minority physicians; gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender -- or GLBT -- physicians; and international medical graduates.)
AAFP delegates to the AMA Young Physicians Section: Adrian Billings, M.D., Ph.D., of Alpine, Texas, and Anne Kittendorf, M.D., of Dexter, Mich.
Overall, 30 candidates ran for office during this year's NCSC, a significant proportion of the approximately 140 individuals who attended the conference. Of that attendance total, 66 were first-time participants.
In addition, NCSC delegates acted on 67 resolutions submitted by special constituency representatives, and 11constituent chapters received "full delegation awards" for sending a representative from each of the five constituencies to the conference.
