National Conference of Special Constituencies (NCSC)

April 23-25, 2009
Hyatt Regency Crown Center
Kansas City, MO

NCSC is the AAFP’s policy development event addressing member issues specific to women, minorities, new physicians, international medical graduates, and GLBTs. (Learn more about the special constituencies.)

At NCSC you will:
  • Connect and network with members who share your concerns.
  • Build your leadership and policy development skills.
  • Create resolutions and suggest policies and programs.
  • Take part in reference committee hearings and vote on resolutions (modeled after the Congress of Delegates).
  • Enhance your effectiveness within your local and constituent chapters and the AAFP.
Many of the initiatives launched at NCSC have influenced AAFP policy. NCSC attendees elect leaders to the AAFP Congress of Delegates and the AMA Young Physicians Section, as well as advocate for issues important to you.

Past topics include:

  • Reduction of health disparities in racial and ethnic groups.
  • Assistance with practice coverage for deployed military reservists.
  • Inadequate reimbursement for family physicians.
  • Strategies to address obesity in health professional shortage areas.
  • Minority and international medical graduate mentorship programs.
