This CME series addresses the challenges of managing patients with chronic pain. In addition to providing an overview of the evidence-based recommendations about assessment and management, the series also offers strategies and tools to assist physicians in integrating these principles into practice.

Series Objectives
- Review evidence-based guidelines for assessment and management of acute and chronic nonmalignant pain
- Provide tools to assist with the assessment of pain in clinical practice
- Review non-pharmacological treatment options
- Discuss available analgesics (opioid, nonopioid, adjuvant) and their use in pain management
- Discuss issues and misconceptions in the management of acute and chronic nonmalignant pain
- Discuss approaches to monitoring treatment response, managing adverse effects and optimizing outcomes in pain patients
- Identify challenges and barriers to the effective management of pain and provide insight regarding potential solutions
