Plan Ahead When Submitting Applications in December and January
December and January are our busiest times of the year for processing CME applications. Plan ahead and submit your applications early! The review process takes up to 30 business days (6 weeks). AAFP will be closed December 25, 2008 – January 4, 2009.
For CME providers who offer AAFP credit for their medical staff series activities, remember to submit the rest of your series updates for 2008. Include your CME credit approval form with your updates.
Don’t forget to submit your 2009 medical staff series applications. The first date, speaker, and topic are all we need to review and approve your application. Updates (additional dates, speakers, and topics) can be submitted throughout the year.
Updated Applications
Use updated CME applications online. These applications no longer require signatures from the activity director and the input family physician. Attestation is still required.
Online Submission of Applications
Early in April 2009, our application submission process will be online, making it possible to apply for and receive CME credit approval even more efficiently. More information about this exciting new process will be available soon.
New Review Fees
As of August 1, 2008, the AAFP's CMEA review fees increased. A discount for non-profit CME providers is available. This was the first increase in four years.
Re-Review of Applications
Applications that need to be re-reviewed by AAFP after the CME provider receives official credit approval will be charged a processing fee of $100. Learn more.
Rush Fee
CME providers have the option to pay a rush fee of $500 plus the review fee for their CME application to be reviewed faster than the standard 30 business days (6 weeks). Learn more.
Advertising Opportunities
AAFP Web Site: At this time, only live CME activities approved for AAFP CME credit are listed automatically in the AAFP's CME Center. In the future, all CME activities will be listed. However, CME providers will have the ability to opt out of listing their CME activities in the AAFP's CME Center.
Membership List: CME providers may purchase the AAFP's membership list. Contact Kerry Tranfa with INFOCUS at 800-708-5478, ext. 3246, or ktranfa@infocuslists.com.
Ad Space: CME providers may purchase ad space in American Family Physician (AFP) journal. Contact Donna Kelley at 800-237-7027. (AAFP CME accreditation required.)
