Glen R. Stream, M.D., FAAFP, MBI, a family physician in Spokane, Washington, serves on the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Stream was elected to a three-year term in October 2007 by the AAFP’s governing body, its Congress of Delegates. The AAFP represents more than 94,600 physicians and medical students nationwide.
Stream has been a family physician serving the Pacific Northwest for more than 25 years. He joined the Rockwood Clinic, the largest multi-specialty practice in Spokane, Washington, in 1991. At Rockwood he has served as board member, chief privacy officer and medical director of clinical information services since 2002. Prior to his move to Spokane, Stream worked six years in a three-physician rural family medicine practice in Cashmere, Washington.
A member of the AAFP since 1985, Stream has served on the Commission on Governmental Advocacy since 2005. He also has served as a delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates since 2000, and as an alternate delegate from 1994 to 1999. Stream is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has the AAFP Degree of Fellow, an earned degree awarded to family physicians for distinguished service and continuing medical education.
A member of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians since 1985, Stream has served in numerous leadership roles, including one year as president and four years as co-chair for the WAFP Commission on Legislation and Governmental Affairs. Stream continues to play an active leadership role with the Washington Academy of Family Physicians Foundation, the charitable arm of the WAFP.
Stream also has been an active member of the Washington State Medical Association, in which he served on the Inter-Specialty Council, and as a trustee of the Spokane County Medical Society.
Stream attended the University of Washington, Seattle, where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and completed his family medicine residency at the Swedish Hospital Family Medicine Residency program, also in Seattle. He also completed a Master of Biomedical Informatics degree at the Oregon Health and Science University in June 2007.
